"I also use a skill known as "Brainspotting" in many of my sessions. Often a person's challenges are expressed in subtle, physical ways. A tragic event, a fear or a troubling circumstance can show up in body movements or actions. Brainspotting is a way to help someone by being attuned to the position and activity of their eyes. The results are incredible. I am certified in Brainspotting."

"People intrigue me. Each one is special, generally good at heart, always interesting and definitely worth helping."

I’ve been known to have “itchy feet,” and have lived a diverse life with time spent in California, Europe and finally the Midwest. I’ve lived in small towns and larger cities. I’ve been both a teacher and home-maker.

But one thing has been a constant. My whole life, people have told me their secrets. I have always been the sounding board for all my friends’ challenges in life. That calling led me to a career in counseling.

As a California transplant to the Midwest, I learned first-hand what it’s like to struggle to find a place in Midwest society. After 20 years, I’m happy to call Sioux Falls my home and to use my perspective to help clients navigate their everyday lives. I work with people who have trouble letting their amazing personalities shine through while at the same time acting within what feels like a constrictive society.

I have broad experience in:

  • Chronic pain management
  • Burnout
  • Evaluating dysfunctional work environments
  • Working with undiagnosed physical health challenges
  • Trauma
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Parenting
  • Transitions
  • Women’s issues
  • Grief and loss
  • Regional differences
  • Boundary difficulties
  • Communication distress
  • Adult ADD
  • Accessing community resources
  • Coordinating with other professionals to assist clients in obtaining well-rounded success.

I’m dedicated to finding real, actionable strategies for dealing with your challenges. I provide a warm, welcoming environment, and I will give you direct, open and honest feedback that you will be able to use to build a happier, more fulfilling life.

I received my BA from UCLA and earned a teaching credential and taught high school in California. I later attended South Dakota State University and earned an MS in counseling. I am a National Certified Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor-Mental Health, Qualified Mental Health Professional and a member of Phi Kappa Phi since 2004.
